cs2040 - Hotel/Motel/Real Estate Management and Reservation Software CD

A collection of Software Packages for small business, where bookings are central to operations. The packages are in two general categories, which are not entirely distinct: Hotel, Motel, and other Real Estate type operations; and other Reservation systems, ticket systems, and resource allocation aids. Packages are most applicable to UNIX/Linux, Windows, or both; however, many are written in Java and should be useable on a broad variety of systems.

  About Me

Users will need one of the commonly available unzip type utilities, such as PKUNZIP or WinZip, tar for Linux, etc. Programs are distributed with source, when appropriate, and some programs in C, for example, will have to be compiled.

These packages are particularly attractive because the source code is provided, and therefore maintainability of installed systems is assured for a long time. In addition, some of these packages are supported by commercial enterprises.

The various packages are at different levels of maturity and completeness, and I cannot certify that they are all worthwhile for any particular purpose. You will have to judge for yourself.

Reservation System Software
phpMyTicket - An online box office ticket reservation system for theaters, festivals or other events. It features an interactive seating map capability, and a customizable front-end. The phpMyTicket software supports electronic ticket sales, and tickets can be produced as PDF files with barcode identifier. The web-based user interface is in English, French, German, Italian, or Russian. Distributed persuant to the GNU General Public License.
pMH - A plug-in based general purpose online reservation platform. It features booking services, affiliations managing, structures advertising. Implemented with PHP Fusebox 3 framework and an XML multi-tier architecture. pMH is written to use the ADOdb database environment. The software is licensed under the GNU General Public License. The user interface is web-based and is in English or Italian. Because it is written in PHP, pMH is relatively system independent. pMH is continuing to evolve.
myLANsite - A set of components and modules for the Mambo CMS for lanparty management and organization. It includes seat reservation, tournament brackets, catering organization and many more features. It is written in PHP, and is therefore relatively system independent. It uses a web interface in English or German. The package is distributed persuant to the GNU General Public License.
phpLendMe - A resource reservation system, implemented in a PHP/MySQL-based environment. The phpLendMe package is an aid to administration of loans and reservations of equipment or resources of any kind. All reservations can be displayed in a calendar with a daily, weekly, or monthly view. phpLendMe has a built-in user management feature. Because it is written in PHP, phpLendMe can be run in a wide variety of system environments. It uses a web interface, whis is in English, German, or Turkish. Distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
Rapla - A flexible multi-user resource management system. Rapla is written in Java and uses a web interface in English or German. The package was designed with a university environment in mind. Rapla allows coordination beetween the lectures and the administration in allocating (booking) the available resources. Developement began in a practical course at the department of Computer Science III at the University of Bonn, Germany. Version 0.12.4 of the project was released under the GNU-License in November 2004.
eReserve - An extensible, networked (Client/Server-based) reservation system which will allow any organization to easily track, schedule, and manage reservations of equipment, conference rooms, or any other resource. The package is written inn C++ and runs on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP. It is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL).
golf-reserve - Web-based Golf Course Reservation - This is a J2EE application designed for golf clubs. The user module features self-registration, tee-time search and online tee-time reservation. The CSR module allows customer service to search, add, modify and delete reservations for users. It uses a web user interface, and as a Java application is relatively system independent. It is distributed under the GNU General Public License.
   As a runtime environment, this package requires: Tomcat 4.1.x or other web servers and servlet containers that support Servlet 2.3 and JSP 1.2; and MySQL 3.23 or higher. To install from the source distribution, the following are also required: JDK 1.3; Ant 1.5.
Property Management Software
Solunas - A Hotel Management and Booking system to manage small to medium size hotels, holiday flats, guesthouse or rent-a-car operations. Online availability and booking. The package is intended for Hotels and Holiday Homes of up to 150 units, and offers the to market accomodation over the internet. Solunas operates with a web interface, and is written in PHP. It supports Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, and Spanish speaking users.
JHotel - A software package for small and medium-sized hotels. It is written in Java, and is therefore relatively system independent. For English and German speakers. Distributed under the GNU General Public License.
Rental Manager - A software package for scheduling guests at a rental property such as a bed and breakfast, cottage, etc. It is written in PHP and uses a web type interface. Distributed under the Apache Software License.
hphp hotel - This is an open source software package for mid-scale hotel and motel operations. It is written in php and mysql, and runs on Linux and Windows.
Room Rack Hotel Manager - A Hotel Management System written entirely in Java. Distributed under the GNU General Public License. The package is suitable for Windows or UNIX/Linux environments.
iHaus - A Property management (Hausverwaltung) software package primarily for German speaking users. Runs on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP, Linux/BSD/UNIX, Mac OS X, Apple Mac OS Classic. This is a mature application.
